Software-as-a-Service and the Need for Speed
Retailers are feeling the “need for speed” when it comes to delivering new IT-enabled capabilities. They want to deliver new business functionality faster while paying less for that functionality. This desire is driven from both internal and external pressures; customers are demanding better service from retailers particularly for multi-channel customer order management, while the internal IT department is challenged to keep up with demands both from within and outside the company.

Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is a business software delivery model that promises access to commercial applications more quickly and less expensively than traditional buy/integrate/implement software acquisition strategies. 

This study analyzes retailers' interest and sensitivity to this delivery model.
