Boston’s Water Supply: Has A Broken Pipe Exposed Broken Supply Chains?

For 72 hours, residents of Boston (myself included) and most of its surrounding towns were not able to drink the water that comes from our taps. This past Saturday, a coupling where two sections of pipe in the city’s water supply met gave way. This was the “new” pipe, mind you, having been built only seven years ago. As a result, the water flowing to residents all throughout the metro area since that time had  been from an “untreated” backup reservoir, and deemed unfit for human – and I’m assuming animal - consumption. We were advised not to drink the water or brush our teeth without boiling it for at least one full minute first, nor should we cook with it or wash any dishes in it, even in a dishwasher.

Transparency's Unrelenting Wave
